Donato Piccolo

Place : Italie, Rome

Born in 1976 in Rome, where he lives and works, Donato Piccolo studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and at the University of Philosophy.

Prior to his career, he served as assistant to numerous artists, including Giacinto Cerone and Sol Le Witt. Donato Piccolo is one of the most notable artists of the young Italian art scene. Mixing science, technology (robotic and artificial intelligence), art, and philosophy, his work evolves along multiple research axes.

By studying human cognitive faculties, Piccolo's art analyzes the perceptual aspects of the natural world. His works explore natural, physical, and scientific phenomena that underpin human life. Most of the artist's works combine two complementary and inseparable aspects: they are both sculptures and machines, forms and processes.

According to Donato Piccolo, this hybrid nature constitutes the very essence of "holistic art": an art whose essential function is to explore "the incomprehensible mystery of the visible world." Donato Piccolo regularly exhibits in Italy and abroad.
