Patrice Robert
Patrice Robert (born in 1982) is a French painter from Luz-Saint-Sauveur, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. His work is distinguished by the power of his compositions and his unique exploration of black, which he transforms into a vibrant and luminous material.
Far from being a mere absence of color, black becomes, under his brush, a space in perpetual metamorphosis. His canvases capture light, reflect it, and transform it, revealing an infinite range of shades, reflections, and textures. Each fold, each curve shapes a depth that draws the eye and invites sensory exploration. This subtle interplay between shadow and brilliance gives his works a hypnotic, almost living presence.
Patrice Robert thus creates compositions in motion, where matter seems to unfold and vibrate depending on the viewer’s perspective. Far from being static, his painting interacts with its environment: light—whether natural or artificial—activates the work and alters its perception. This immersive dimension fully engages the spectator, who becomes an active participant in their own visual experience.
